There are always parties and gatherings, but how many hog roasts have you been to? Hotels are always on the lookout for quality caterers that can offer them a quality service so one of your first ports of call should be high-end hotels in your area.Wedding Fairs are also great – these are held on a regular basis in every town.
Who do you know that is having a wedding, Bar Mitzvah (it doesn’t have to be pork, the oven cooks any meat,) 40th birthday, 21st birthday or any birthday come to mention it, company event, club event etc.? You can also try selling filled cobs at football matches, car boots, markets, country fairs etc.
We know from experience that for every event you are at, you will get 3 or 4 people asking if you are available for their event so make sure you have some leaflets/business cards printed to take advantage of this. It can soon snowball.
We have often sold one machine only to sell another 2 or 3 months later as the customer needs more ovens to handle their increasing requirements.
We have been able to feed 350 people from one cooking session; this was made up from a 75k pig (head off) plus two 6-7 kilo shoulder joints on the spit and 3 trays with boned shoulder joints making a total of 102kilos of meat.
This gave us over 350 bread rolls with the meat costing 63p per head! We were selling these at £3.50 each (at some events you can get as much as £5 per bread roll) this gave us a profit on the event of approx.
£900, in just one afternoon!
